Mission Team Update for July 2024
Mission Team Update for January 2024
December and January have been extremely busy months for our missions team:
We provided over 50 Christmas gifts to 3 EO Young families in need.
We provided monthly food boxes in Dec. and Jan for 7 needy families.
We helped a needy family leaving an abusive situation with a couch, 2 beds, end tables, dishes, blankets, sheets, and clothing along with a food box and a $200 gift card to food lion, to help her and her 4 children get started again.
We continue to volunteer at the NC Food bank distribution site off Drewry Manson Rd 2 times a month.
We provided blankets, a bed, and winter coats to the “Hotel”. This is the old Norlina Hotel at the stop light; beside the Roost Crossroads Antiques and across from the Blue Waves Exxon. This “Hotel” provides a room for those trying to get there feet on the ground. There is a lot more work that needs to be done. They currently house 17 residents with 46 more rooms to be renovated. Work days will be announced when it warms up.
We are also working with “Shade Tree Ministries”. This ministry provides hot meals to 2 homeless camps in Norlina 2 times a week. We have provided silverware, and To-Go boxes for 500 meals, as well as coats, hats, gloves, blankets, cots, a tent, and camping store.
We continue to support the 10 elementary schools in Vance County and 3 in Warren County. This month we restocked the 13 schools with sanitary products, belts, undies, sweatpants, leggings, deodorant, socks, gloves, hats, coats, ChapStick, toothbrushes, toothpaste.
These missions are only possible because of YOUR GENEROUS DONATIONS, be it monetary or donation of above items.
I am asking each of you to please continue collecting children’s coat gloves and hats, as well as underwear and socks. The need is so GREAT in our area that these items go out as quick as they are received. -- THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

We will continue to provide ready made snacks for the children. The pantry has been set up in the counselor's office. It is accessible to any school employee that sees, hears, or observes a child in need of a quick snack.(instant oatmeal, granola bars, crackers and cheese, Mac and cheese, fruit cups, etc).

The 3rd part is helping the school nurse with the health needs of children by donating deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, chapstick, baby wipes, bandades, Vaseline and lotion. We are also collecting children's underwear sizes 4 through 10 and youth socks size 10-3. Earbuds with cords are being collected for the computer labs.
